Dear all,

How do I determine the fuel gas requirement for a gas turbine generator? It is a 4MW generator load and efficiency of 31.5%.

Asade,

What do you mean by Requirement, is it some kind of parameter ?

Provide more details.

Attached some documents, may be you will find helpful.

Asade,

I don't understand the difficulty with this simple question. Your statement

It is a 4MW generator load and efficiency of 31.5%

should make the answer obvious.
Efficiency of 31.5% means that the power of 4 MW is 31.5% of the heat released when the fuel is burnt. From this you can calculate the total heat released by the fuel = 4 MW/0.315
Now divide this result by the NETT (lower) calorific value of the fuel gas, and you will have the fuel gas flowrate required.I leave it to you to get the units correct.

Paul.

paulhorth,
thanks for the clarification. I have calculated the fuel consumption based on the total heat generated.
