This is an idea that we're throwing around for possible launch in 2006. I'd like to get some opinions on this. There's not really a source of this information that is ever anywhere near accurate....the prices simply change to fast and are usually fairly industry dependent.
Rather than try to force historical data into a costing curve, I'd like to institute a system of constantly updated equipment pricing data so that any equations that are extrapolated could at least be close.
Many of you may know of the site at www.matche.com which tries to achieve the same goal, but I'm not sure how successful they are at getting updated information.
Post any questions that you have about this potential project. If we can get a good conversation going and there's interest, we'll see if we can pursue this further. Here are some questions, I'd like to get responses to:
1. If Cheresources.com started an equipment costing database that contained real quotation data, would you be interested?
2. Would you fax or email quotations if you were credited $2.00 for each one with a payout once you reached $50?
3. Would you be more inclined to submit quotes if your name and the equipment supplier's name was kept confidential?
4. What other features of such a database would you recommend?
Thanks for your feedback,

Having a database like this would be a good idea, especially if it could be referenced geographically.

The idea is good, but for the answers you have received we can see that nobody seems to be interested.
It will be a fantastic tool for any professional and I sure would submit quotes. My market is basically vacuum systems (steam jet ejectors and liquid ring vacuum pumps).
About the other features , you should think about how to certify those member allowed to submit quotes, in order to guaranty the quality of the information.

I agree with above statement. BUT the reason for it is that IDEA is posted in section which is less viewed by professionals. Example is myself !!!!. Just for curiocity, i accessed "Kyoto Protocol" forum.
I suggest admin to transfer this topic to "industrial professionals" forum. It would give more replies.
