If there exists a “a good presentaion or article or an animation file or link” on the workings of compressors and turbines, it is probably residing in a university professor’s classroom. The university is the source of teaching basics; we on the Forums don’t teach and don’t pretend to either. We don’t have those resources available to us.
But there are other ways of learning this material – the way I and every engineer before me did it: by reading and studying certain text books. Today, thanks to the Internet you have access to obtain specialized books on these subjects and from very experienced and capable engineers. Go to: http://www.cheresour...wer/#entry64737
And you will learn of one outstanding author in this subject: Norman Liebermann.
You can easily access Amazon books on your computer and find the long list of books he has written – most of them on simple, basic engineering such as compressors and turbines. But before you go there, make up your mind or learn to communicate with specifics: do you mean positive displacement compressors or dynamic compressors? Do you mean steam turbines or gas turbines? Don’t make people who want to help you out go around chasing the wrong subject. Learn to be specific. Otherwise, your future bosses will be the ones bringing this shortcoming to your attention.
I recommend you buy Norm's books (if you don't find them in your school's library) and study them diligently. You will not regret it if you are to become a professional engineer some day.

Does Norm give you a commission? He seems to be one of your most favorite sources of information.

Bobby:
As I indicated previously, I don’t think Norm makes enough money on the sales of his books to feed his dog – much less pay commissions. His friendship is more than sufficient.
One point I will correct is that Norm is not my source of information. We share a lot of common experiences in the oil and gas industries – both upstream and downstream – but after 52 years in engineering my own background and experience is what I use as my base source of information. Norm has had the gumption and ability to put his valuable experiences in writing and in lectures and seminars world-wide --- something that most of us have not done either because we chose different paths or were just too lazy. That is one reason I think highly of his writings and always recommend them when I spot someone who can profit from them.

Seems your are pretty new in this forum. So my piece of advice to you: please try to be more constructive in your posts.
Thanks.
Regards.

And thank you also. Like an old hound dog napping in the sun, I appreciate a kick on the backside every now and then to awaken me and respond to someone’s need or question. I am glad that you concur with my respect for Norm Liebermann’s skill and accomplishments in communicating and sharing his many experiences and knowledge with other engineers. I think you can understand that my expounding Norm’s skill is not to glorify, but rather to direct others who seek that knowledge to the right, available source.

Thanks Art. I, too, agree that Norm and Elizabeth have many experiences to share. And I have worked with both of them over the years. And, Sheiko, there was no disrespect intended. And I'm not so new in the business. It's what we call locally a jest to elicit further comment by Art, which it did. And Art recognized the intent of my comment.

Bobby,
Your caustic humor may be appreciated by those whose native language is English and probably who are familiar with the working of the American Chemical process industry but not to those for whom English is not their native language. Maybe stressing less on innuendo and concentrating more on the subject will probably make people who are reading your post more comfortable and appreciative. You could give a serious thought about this, couldn't you.
Regards,
Ankur.
