Hi
I want to treat waste emulsion (breaking and as well separation )of refinary in hysys such as

API separator sludge
Slop oil emission
Tank bottoms
Other separator sludges
Pond sediment
FFU sludges
Desalter bottoms
Waste oils/solvents
Miscellaneous oil sludges

but i didnt have any real data avaliable of emulsion . So i was mixing cdu bottom, solids and water by using mixer in hysys but problem here i m facing is how to add solids in stream . also kindly provide me emulsion data .

thnks

Hello arsalz100,

I'm not 100% sure if you can simulate emulsions using Hysys. But I am sure that you won't get good results by just attaching separate streams to a mixer. The mixer will only mix the streams and calculate mix properties using thermodinamical equations depending on the method you select; usually this works correctly with pure components, crude oil, etc. I don't thik this tool can predict/simulate an emulsion since it is not a thermodinamical phenomena but a physical one.

If there's any way to model an emulsion in Hysys, maybe a simulation expert as #12 PaoloPemi could help you.
