Hi! I am facing with a difficult problem and I would like to ask you for some tips.
I have a pressurised tank connected with only a outlet pipe. In a single moment, you open the valve and the tank get empty. Some consideration have to take into account:
1- The tank has a biphasic mix of water and steam so that when the valve is opened the pressure in the tank drop and the water boil producing more steam and increasing the pressure
2- There is a valve that control the pressure after it. I mean, the pressure arter the valve is constant.
my questions:
1- How can I relate the quality of the steam with the level in the tank (knowing volume)?
2- How can I assess the pressure (and, therefore, the temperature) of the mix with the tank level?
3- Can I relate steam quality with T and P considering this system as a one in equilibrium?
4- Any advice about resources where I could find something interesting to solve this problem (books, webs, etc...)
Thanks in advance!

If you drop the tank pressure, allowing more (Assuming hot) water to evaporate then the tank pressure will not rise, only the composition will change.
1) To know what "Quality" (I assume you mean Temperature and Pressure as there seems to only be water in the tank) you just need to know what pressure the tank is at once the valve is opened
Sidenote on 1). You need to know the pressure in the tank once the valve is opened and the pressure "after" the outlet valve. Why? You may get excessive condensation otherwise.
I assume you only care about the steam that will be leaving the tank and not the steam that is in the tank. Therefore, whatever the pipe is "controlled at" (like you told us) then this will be the pressure and temperature of the steam leaving.
You keep saying steam quality. You need to describe this term. Do you mean will it be saturated, superheated, etc. Or are you talking about any rust/metals that are in it. Or just T and P. Please elaborate.
