Dear All
I am a Astt. Process Engineer. I face a Question in a interview: What is the difference between Towers & Columns in Process Industries?
I think its some what related to terminology i.e. Americans use 'Columns' as word in their docs. & British use Towers for vertical Process vessels (Towers or Columns). Please give your expertise replies clearify the query.
Regards,
Amit Thakur

I would agree with you that it is just a difference between the terminologies used in America and Britain for trayed or packed vessels, but my impression was that it is the Americans who usually call them towers, and the British who use the term columns. But these terms are used so interchangeably that you would be understood using either term in either area. BTW, I am from South Africa so mine is definitely an outsiders point of view.
