I have been asked by our client to look at an option of designing a spare common tank for the following chemicals:
1) Ethylene Glycol
2) Caustic
3) Acetic Acid
4) Methanol
Each of these chemical have their own tank but they are looking to have a spare tank if any of them needs to be maintained. Then obviousely they will clean the tank and it may be used for another service. My question is if the cleaning is not done properly what reactions I may have in the tank and what sort of problems I generally may have. I would think that I have to look at the reactions of 2 of the chemicals at each time and not more. Will be any specific issue with this idea except the reactions, if the tank is sized for the highest volume and the material is chosen carefully?!?
