Hello everyone,

I want to ask following question regarding condensing extraction, induction turbine model for CO2 compressor:

I have effecieny of HP and LP satges, how i can find an overall turbine effeciency? Moreover, if i have also added a theoratical stage for injection steam in hysys simulation.

As i dont know exact condition at turbine exaust, i have exaust pressure and temperature but by putting them in model i dont get exact steam quality? one of my senior has suggested me to use only pressure and assume steam quality of 95% to calculate effeciency. I would like to know what should be best method in simulation of condensing turbines?

Thanks and regads,

So you have a condensing steam turbine with additional steam injection on the LP stage and the turbine runs a CO2 compressor and the purpose of  modelling it in Hysys is to find out the overall turbine efficiency? I am curious to see your hysys model too, care to share?

Hi wasimanjum,

I have done the steam turbine simulation in HYSYS, the best way is to put the turbine outlet pressure and the vapor fraction. This is more accurate and more closer to reality than putting the pressure and temperature.

I have tried putting on the Pressure and Temperature condition at the outlet, and even by using the same calculated temperature as the inserted vapor fraction, the results of calculated vapor fraction by HYSYS is not same as the required or estimated vapor fraction.

And I have also compare this with steam turbine vendor calculations, the pressure and vapor fraction calculated efficiency is closer to the vendor calculated efficiency.

guys can i also needed your references to simulation steam turbine by using hysis

can you share to me how to simulation steam turbine to my email: stevanusgabs@yahoo.co.id

I think HYSYS has an expander operation. That should do the trick.

yeah bobby, i think that software can be used for simulation steam turbine but i dont know how to use that sofware especially to simulation my problems. Can you give me more advised??
