Hi Dear All

I want to hydraulic and thermal  modeling a Hot oil heater system for bitumen storage tank heating by hysys software. Thermal oil  and Bitumen 60/70 (penetration grade) must  define for software. For this reason I need assay data of thermal oil.(TBP, ASTM D86, ASTM D1160,...,chromatograph,...) . there is no data of bitumen and thermal oil around me.

hope Help.

Requird data (in TBP methode)

Liquid Vol%  VS  Boiling Temperature

Liquid Vol%  VS molecular weight

Liquid Vol%  VS  density

Temperature , Liquid Vol%     VS      Viscosity

Bulk Density

Molecular Weight

Viscosity @ 100F

Viscosity @ 210F

Above Data for both Bitumen60/70 and thermal oil.

Thanks

Oh, I thought you found the data in the previous thread useful?

You dont need to know the results of ASTM D86 to design or model a hot oil heater. You dont want to boil off everything in the tank... Its meant to keep warm not boil off. Anyway, D86 is not for bitumen and D1160 is technically not used for bitumen either although it is done at reduced pressures.

Perhaps you should consult the seller of your thermal fluid, Dow etc, to provide some information to aid in your modelling work. They might be more willing to offer you in confidence than on the internet forums.

I assume the bitumen is made in your own plant? You could always take the results from your own in-house lab or from some 3rd party lab
