That's a very wide ranging question.  Can you be a bit more specific?
What stage of a project are you talikng about:

  • Conceptual design
  • FEED
  • Detailed design
  • Commissioning and Operation
  • Post startup revamp

The process engineering deliverables are different for each of these stages. They are also  specific to a given client, who will define what he wants in a scope of work.

When you say "limitations" what do you mean?

Paul

I'd agree with Paul, more details are needed.

The deliverables are usually a developing procedure.  For example, the PFD is a deliverable at Concept phase, but may be completely reworked, added to, more detailed by the end of the design phase.  The same goes for P&IDs in the detailed design to post startup phases.

May be I should restructure my question as follow:

What is/are the role of a process engineer at each phase/stage of a project as listed below and what is/are the deliverable at each stage?

  1. Conceptual design
  2. FEED
  3. Detailed design
  4. Commissioning and Operation
  5. Post startup revamp

Thank you, hope to get these straight from you.
