Hi to all,

Please let me know how the following equations are arrived

Stoichometric air lb/lb of fuel = 11.53*C + 34.34*(H2 - (O2/8)) + 4.29*S - Equation-1

Stoichometric air lb/10kbtu = 144*((8.01*C + 23.86*(H2 - (O2/8)) + 3*S)/(HHV) - Eq.-2

Please help me out

Google the equations :

11.53*C + 34.34*(H2 - (O2/8)) + 4.29*S

 

and you will get your answer

This equation is know as Dulong Formula for qualification of fuel

note : You need to pay attention to the units  .

Dulong formula.(accuracy 2-3%)

 

HHV (Btu/lb) = 14,544 *C+62,028 *(H2-(O2/8))+4050*S

 

HHV (higher heating value); C:mass fraction of Carbon,.....H2 mass fraction of Hydrogen, O2 mass fraction of Oxygen and S mass fraction of sulfur.

Your 1st equation might be wrong.Is it divided by 100 ?

 

 Give us reference where you got that equation from

 

Check attached copy.

ya, you are right Mr.Shivasankar, It should be devided by 100, but i am not understanding how this 144 comes, is this a common product of all constituents.

Please provide me the full document of your attachment
