What is the principle difference in operation and selection guide for choosing level and differential pressure transmitter. Do we provide Differential pressure transmitter only for vacuum vessels. Please advice.

Differential pressure measurement is one of the techniques for level determination. The transmitter has two connections, Low Pressure or LP, taken from top of the vessel (essentially above the maximum possible level) and High Pressure or HP, taken from the bottom. Since head (pressure exterted by the liquid on HP side) of any liquid can be converted into height if density of the liquid is known. For example, 1 psi is translated into a height of 2.31 feel for water.
Differential pressure measurement can be adopted for level measurement of stable, non agressive liquids. This is not suitable for highly corrosive, volatile (like Hydrochloric Acid) and liquids at their saturation (like ammonia, vinyl chloride etc) because of risk of condensation of vapors in the LP side, giving an erraneous reading
No, this technique can also be applied for pressurized vessels also
