Hello everyone,

I'm trying to simulate a stream containing water, ethylene gycol and salt (NaCl).

To add the salt, I created a hypo component with the proprerties similar to NaCl.

As desired, when the stream vaporizes, there is no hypo component in it, but there is the formation of two liquid phases and it's not working when entering a distillation column.

Does anyone know how can I do a single liquid phase, as if the salt was soluble in or mixable with the water and ethylene glycol solution?

Thanks!

You will need to use electrolytes, Na+ and Cl-.

Hi,

Assuming you are using Hysys or UniSim Design, with hypo component defined for NaCl, you can set phase priorities in Basis Environment----Fluid Package Property View----Phase order Tab.

You can select Primary Phase Components and also define Merge Options.

Hi,

NaCl is not there in hysys databank. However, it's available in Aspen Properties databank. You may use the same with Electrolyte NRTL property package.

Regards.
