Dear Members

 

I want to ask you about how to calculate the flash % when preparing control valve data sheet.

 

This is for Medium Pressure Steam Condensate(liquid).

 

Inlet pressure is 16kg/cm2(G) and pressure drop is 12kg/cm2

inlet temperature is 204.7C

this is globe valve(linear)

 

It is natural that pressure drop through the control valve make flash in the liquid.

 

I cannot estimate the flash percent.

 

Please let me know the criteria and procedure

masino,

 

As per the conditions you submitted (204.7 C and 16 kg/cm2), appears the inlet fluid is steam not liquid condensate. Please check it again...

16.5 kg/cm2(g) and 204.7C

 

this is the inlet condition

 

and pressure drop through globe valve is 12.0kg/cm2

I have confirmed what Fallah said using my Mollier chart. At 204.7C and 16.5 Kg/cm2 what you have is saturated steam. With that pressure drop what you end up with is superheated steam at the same temperature if the process is isenthalpic.
