Hello,

A slip stream filter to recirculate 1/10 of flow of a pump discharge need a PSV for overpressure conditions?

Filter have inlet/outlet isolation valves, vent and vent valve, clean and dirty drain valves. I am thinking the pumps cannot develope an overpressure rather than the heater they feed. So I do not believe we need to use a PSV for overprotection on the filter.

Please let us know your comments for this topic.

Thanks,

Kybele

Thank you for your respond.

I tried to add a sketch unfortunately it did not happen. I apologize.

How ever this is a basic thermal fluid heating system and we never used PSV on a small capacity Slip stream filter unless customer asks. Because I do believe filter is on liquid phase always. And a very little flow circulated from discharge of the pump to filter and from filter to suction of the pump. And filter MAWP is much higher than  pipe design pressure also from the total pump head.It is a cartridge type filter and it has a vent. It can be easily connect to drain tank.

Thanks,

Sibel
