Hi everyone,

I wonder if someone can help me on how to simulate the a silica gel natural gas dryer on Aspen Hysys V8, as I could not find it on the Palette and I am not experiance on Hysys simulation.

Many thanks in advance

Fouad

I've done a number of mole sieves and silica gel beds.  I typically get the silica gel or mol sieve sizing info from an in house spreadsheet calculation or from the adsorbent supplier (they will determine diameter and height of the bed, cycle times and pressure drops for the adsorption and regen cycles for you).  I then use the component splitter (water as one outlet stream, dry gas as the other) with the pressure drop info.  I don't believe Hysys has an actual adsorption bed unit operation, and the reactors are not really meant for a simple adsorption process.   Anyone else care to chime in?

Cheers,

Use Aspen Adsorption not Hysys, if you have the software that is. Otherwise, you could do the simulation using numerical solvers like those in Matlab.

You could always request IT department support on such matters. Assuming the license belongs to the university or institute etc
