Hi, I am running a simulation in HYSYS where I am separating triolein from oleic acid. The heat capacity given in hysys for pure triolein is 115.8 kj/kmol K and 0.13 kj/kg K. This seems quite low. Where does hysys get this data from and can it be trusted? I am using the wilson fluid package.

Thanks

Hi Chris,

I like to caution you on using the properties in HYSYS for triolein, they are erroneous and were the source of all the troubles in my simulations when I was designing for a biodiesel facility.

I'm attaching a paper for the specific heats for pure fatty acids (triolein included).

You could do a google search for mixture properties, and I think you should double check any outputs from HYSYS - often unreliable. Just my (bad) experience with it.

Thanks for that, yeah I've seen that paper before and that's what made me think the data in HYSYS wasn't correct.
