I am trying to track the U value of the Amine stripper tower reboiler which is a steam heated vertical thermosyphon.

I am using Aspen EDR to simulate the exchanger.

I have supplied the exchanger geometry, inlet condition (Shell and tube side) in simulation mode, but I dont know what is value of fouling coefficient.

My idea is to use the simulation to predict U value of the exchanger , track this U value for the plant run length and plan for cleaning whenever required.

Can I use simulation to accurately predict fouling of the exchanger and a realistic U value (not the simulation mode where fouling is assumed 0).

Im not highly conversant with EDR so need help.

Thanks in ADVANCE.

The typical value for the fouling factor of amine is .002. Although I have recently seen one case where .001 was used.
