Hello all,

I am in the process of ordering air and nitrogen pressure filter regulators. These regulators do not have any electrical parts [no solenoid valves etc] and will be installed in a gas Zone 2 areas [Ex II 3G IIB T4]. I read somewhere that if non-electrical parts are to be installed in a gas Zone 2 areas, there is no need of any ATEX certificate.

My queries:

  1. Above statement prompts the requirement of ATEX certificate for non-electrical parts if they are used in Zone 1 or Zone 1 areas. Has anybody come across having ATEX certificate for non-electrical items to be used in Zone 1 or Zone 0 areas?
  2. Also, what is it that makes non-electrical items qualified for Zone 1 or Zone 0 areas?

I am asking these queries as I was always under impression that ATEX certification is not required for non-electrical items.

Your  input would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

KS
