The question is as follows;

To design a total vertical shell and tube condenser which condenses 300moles/s of saturated ethanol vapour at 80oC to liquid at 80oC using cooling water at 30oC and 2 bars which leaves at 60oC.

Hi

Probably good to get a copy of process heat transfer by Kern.

Start by doing a heat balance and calculate the water needed .

Sure it will help

Firstly, what you write is not a question, but a statement.

Secondly, follow the good advice that Breizh gives you.  It's a path to the answer.

Thirdly, be specific in what you state you need to process design - because it makes a big difference.  You need to specify WHERE you are condensing - tubeside or shellside.  Kindly refer to the attached workbook for an illustration of what I am referring to.  Note that your instructions are to produce a SATURATED, condensed product.  Use your common sense in designing the orientation and arrangement that gives you that product.  I repeat: it makes a difference.

Thanki you for your reply.  I am going to need a lot of help for this assignment.  I do not have a good lectuer. My deadline is April 4th.  From your experience would I be able to complete this assignment on time?  Would you be able to guide me along the way.  I really need it.
