Dear all

My boss want me to calculate how much soda ash i need to put theoritically to my crude glycerin in order to remove FAE. As i know it is hard to do this because everyimt the FAE molecular number changes and this FAE can consist of FAE and FFA.

I have also read that soda ash does not react with FAE and only react with FFA is that really true? and i also read that the amount of soda ash i use will be twice then the amount of caustic soda because caustic soda is stonger then soda ash but from the reaction equation

2R-cooh+Na2co3--->2RCooNa +co2 +h20

if caustic soda is

R-Cooh+Naoh-->RCooNa +h20

Am i doing this right?

best regards
