I need to design a pressure vessel containing Activated carbon for propane adsorption. How should i proceed?
Pressure Range ... 0 to 20bar
Temp range..... -10 to 110 Celcius
volume ..... 40 litres

You should not attempt to design such a pressure vessel -no mattter how small- if you are not experienced in that field .
However ; If you want to calculate the required plate thickness for training purposes only , preliminary material estimates , or any other purpose other than actual fabrication you can refer to formula presented in ASME VIII UG-27 , and refer to materials allowable stresses at specificed metal design temperature in ASME II, Part D .
