Hi there,

I am doing a system curve calculation to determine potential duty points from a new pumping system. I normally work with water, but am now using oil with a high specific gravity (upto 2.4).  I understand the pump curve is not dependent on SG as it shows head instead of pressure (which is why it doesnt matter if the pump curve was produced using water or any other liquid).  However when doing system curve calculations, how are the specific gravity and density of the fluid used for valid comparison with the pump curve (if at all)?  Or is it solely the pump power that is affected by S.G?

Will the static head calculation be influenced by the specific gravity or density of the oil?

Kind regards

jagtag,

Just pump power is proportionally affected...
