I want to know why in bigger Hydrogen plants an HT shift converter is used.? If shift conversion is favoured at low temperature , it would be better for us to use two LT shift converters instead of an HT and an LT..?

Less catalyst. The reaction is faster at higher temperature. Many modern plants use only one medium-temperature shift converter.

Thanks for the prompt reply , can u excuse my chemical engineering knowledge and please elaborate a bit.
Thanking you in advance.

HT converter inlet CO content is more than 3% which is the limiting factor for LT converter. LT converter can not handle higher content of CO inlet. First it has to be bring down to a lower value of CO %.

MJ94,
Catalyst manufacturers like Clariant,Johnson Matthey or who ever your provider will be able to provide this information. As Mr. Bobby Strain mentioned we are using MTS convertor (Medium Temperature Shift) and LTS (Low Temp Shift) as a polishing bed downstream. we sometimes bypassed the LTS to do trials, eventually the methanator downstream of shift convertors took a big temperature hit due to CO Slip. It is an economical perspective to use multiple levels of shift convertors ( since they use different metal catalyst) and also to save money on the high dollar Methanator catalyst beds.
Hope this helps!
