I am supposed to rate a separator vessel. The vessel has an inlet diffuser with cascade tray for internals. I am unaware the gas momentum criteria for nozzle sizing for this internal. Please elaborate and direct me to any literature on the same.

The sizing momentum applies normally for feed nozzles, and values differ based on the type of inlet device. You can read more information in these two standards available online:
