What is the difference between open steam and steam distillation?
And where are they used?
- Some of light organic compound are steam volatile, in this case live steam is purged in mixture for distillation ( light organic compound will carry over with water vapor).
- Reason for doing steam distillation rather than other distillation method is due to decomposition/degradation of organic compound at high temperature.
