Follow up, is the seeming lack of understanding of the other two simply due to being new starters, coming from a different industry, or just being bad engineers, or is it that I have been given a learning curve much steeper than what is normal?

Are you able to provide more details on the project you are working on?

Are you at a sensible stage with the feed study reagarding PFD's
Mass/energy balance? Are you being left to develop the detailed P&ID's and spec instruments on your own? With only 10 months experience you will need guidance.

Have you had any experience writing a detailed control spec and are the controls being programmed in-house?

Does your company have detailed in-house engineering standards?

You need to be looking at preparing a sensible design for HAZOP and by the sounds of it you need some help.

There is no way you should be applying for funds/CAPEX without a detailed feed study and a completed HAZOP 3.

People here may be able to assist you. But the bottom line; You should not be going solo on this one.

Poor deign could lead to a criminal prosecution.

We have been contracted by a company to essentially build a biorefining site on any of their site (50+) that we find financially viable.

Unsure of what you mean by this? We have a PFD that we are happy with if that's what you mean. We also have in depth lab reports of the feedstock.

Yes, I have completed so far for this project, all of the P&ID's and specifications, mass/energy balances, which include calculations for direct steam injection, flash vessels, pumps etc. However I feel reasonably comfortable with this. And they are checked and approved before being sent off.

Have you had any experience writing a detailed control spec and are the controls being programmed in-house?

A small amount of experience, so far I have been writing it out with a programmingesque logic. (IF NOT AND etc.), this is then handed over to a different department who formalise my requirements in a functional design specification.

Does your company have detailed in-house engineering standards?

I am unsure, but I don't think so. This is possibly something we are working towards, however as I mentioned, we are a startup who aren't completely, shall we say, optimised in the way we run things.

I am unsure how the financing is done I'm afraid. But we are hoping to conduct a HAZOP soon

Excellent thanks for all your help. It was only when the other two started that I realised that my situation wasn't exactly normal.
