what are the prospects for an engineer working in a sugar industry to switch to other industries for example power plants, oil and gas sector, etc

Dear maliuzair,

If we have learning attitude any industry is good for chemical engineer. Sugar industry also have many unit operations and many sugar industries have co gen power plant , utility plant , Effluent treatment plant. This all are very good source for learning.

Switching to other industries will depends on you Knowledge gain from your work and right opportunity,

Regards,

Hi Maliuzair ,

To me yes , if you don't fear to confront yourself with big equipment . Very good opportunity to put in practice Chemical engineering basics.

I've added a link where you can get some "flavors "about the type of process in this industry.

Good luck

Maliuzair

You can find it favorable. You will involved with unit operations ( drying , crystallization, evaporation and leaching processes) and fluid mechanics, heat transfer and more issues which are the principals of chemical engineering.

So, it could be an interesting case for a chem. Engineer.

Thank Breizh for useful link.

Good luck

Mahdi
