Hi, i am required to design a biogas plant. Basically, my process is sewage sludge from wwtp, undergo gravity thickener and will feed into anaerobic digester.

My problem is, i am new to superpro designer software , and i don't have any clue to simulate anaerobic digestion, and is it possible to simulate biogas plant with anaerobic digestion by using Hysys software ?

If so, what is the composition of the input, and the settings for reaction in the simulator (superpro and Hysys)?

I had search online, but the reaction itself seems complicated to simulate in superpro or Hysys. Currently i am using carbohydrates, fats, and protein and water as input (sewage), and stuck at the reaction part.

I hope anyone out there which is familiar with simulating anaerobic digestion with superpro or Hysys could teach me.

Thank you.  :)

Just a suggestion but you might want to get a copy of a book by Ramalho that was published in 1977. It contains detailed methods for WWTP material balances. Best to take a run at the calculations by hand first so you get a feel for the numbers before you approach a simulator. They can make errors if you don't have a feel for the calculation.

After you have done that you should contact the software supplier to get help if you have a support plan with them. If you don't, get the support plan for at least one year and preferably long enough to learn how to use it.
