Dear Members,

In an LD Converter for Steel Making de-carburization of Hot-Metal (T=1350 degC) containing 4.2%C is reduced to 0.1% by blowing 600 Nm3/min pure Oxygen into Hot Metal bath. The quantity of Gas generated is 123000 Nm3/h at 1800 degC and the Gas Composition consist of CO=70%, CO2=13% and N2=17% on dry basis. Due to leakage in the system ambient air ingresses and 10% of 70% Co gets converted to CO2 inside the Water Cooled Duct. This Gas is cooled in a Water Cooled Duct (pressurized Close loop circuit) from 1800 degC to 900 degC before it enters into the Gas Cleaning Plant to get rid of FeO+Lime dust coming out of the process so that this LD Gas can be used as fuel in Boilers/Furnaces.

I need to design a water cooled duct and find out the length, no of tubes and tube diameters as well as temperature of Gas at different places in the water cooled duct.

Can any one help me out or advice me of any books or literature?

With best Regards,
