I am currently trying to simulate production of Ethanol from Natural gas using the Aspen HYSYS, I just completed the first stage of converting natural gas to syngas. I am stuck at the second stage which involves converting syngas to ethanol. The problem is taking account for the catalyst and reactor choice. Please I need help with this

Keep looking. If you find something, let us know. The only route that I know is via acetic acid, which you can make from methanol (from syngas) and carbon monoxide. Then convert it to ethanol via a proprietary process from Celanese. Too expensive, though.

Victor,

I agree with Bobby

I have not ever seen industrial process in which Methane is directly converted to Ethanol

There are some process technologies like thermal reforming of syngas or steam reforming that convert the natural gas to Methanol ( not Ethanol ) like Lurgi's , Uhde and Tapso.

You can find their detail by via searching. There are a lot of information on the internet.
