I'm on my last project and I will separated bioethanol from these by product it is acetaldehyde. My plan I will separated with distillation column, but actually the boiling point of acetaldehyde its very low and so volatile. Can I separated these with a vacuum distillation or any other suggestion to for it? thanks.

Allow me to give you some basic, hard advice:
You are a student and you should confront and accept the challenge and the assignment given you as well as the expected work and study that is expected from you by your professor/instructor in this Unit Operations project. You are expected to organize your thoughts and your work procedures that will be the steps leading to the solution of the problem. Although I don't know the specific details of your assignment and what you have been told, I can assure you that before you even lift a pencil or pen or get on a simulation program, you MUST know and understand the unit operation of distillation and the design methods used to resolve the size and type of equipment needed to carry out the process. You must completely understand the McCabe-Thiele as well as the Ponchon-Savaritt methods for finding the number of spearating stages and the size of the equipment needed.
Once you understand and dominate the theory of how distillation is carried out, you can analyze your basic data regarding the various feed components and decide the pressure best suited to carry out your separation(s). You do this using volatility, boiling points, sensitivity, and other factors.
Next, you do extensive research (which I would expect you already have undertaken) and decide what and how your process will look like or what major equipment is needed and start drawing a basic flow diagram. Here, I am assuming you have a steady-state process and not a batch process.
With a flow diagram, you can develop a mass and heat balance and identify all the major process streams and heat loads. You may - or may not - require a P&ID, depending on your assignment.
To help you on your research, go to Google and do an extensive search on your key words. You will find thousands of leads and sources on your project. This is hard, tedious, and detailed work that requires days (weekends without entertainment and "hanging out") that will lead to the eventual process design. YOU have to do this work; it is expected of you and is one of the key learnings your instructors want you to have and practice. One interesting website you should visit is: http://www.monashsci...eory.htm#Theory
Refer to the attached documents that deal specifically with your topic. Note that one patent uses pressure distillation, not vacuum. Thoroughly read the patent and learn why.
If you need or require further assistance or have specific questions, you have to give our
Forum members more, detailed and specific information. The more information you furnish, the more specific and helpful will be the expert replies.
