What is selection criteria and advantage of a Pilot-Operated Pressure Relief Valve over conventional Pressure Relief Valve?
lilwa,
Criteria for POSV selection:
1) When inlet line pressure loss exceeds 3% of the set pressure
2) When near to zero leakage is required
3) In the cases with high back pressure
4) In the cases with high capacity and high back pressure
5) When the difference between maximum operating pressure and set pressure is lower than %10 of the set pressure
Some advantages of pilot operated PSV over conventional one in brief:
1) Full lift at zero overpressure available
2) Capability to withstand higher built-up back pressures
3) Better seat tightness before relieving and after reseating
4) Possibility of in-line maintenance of the main valve
5) Capability of the remote pressure sensing
6) Higher set pressures available
7) No dependence of opening pressure to superimposed back pressure
8) Possibility of close operating pressure to set pressure

Thank you Fallah!
I also need help in this perspective.
I have been trying to get idea about reverse current tripping of compressor/motor and mostly got electrical data mostly related to generators. I need to understand what is Reverse Power Tripping of a Compressor/Motor in process perspective. I am dealing with heavy duty multi-stage centrifugal process air (200 tonnes/hr) compressor feeding to a reactor.
