Pump's Control

If a pump is connected to different viscous fluid sources and it is supposed to pump out of one source at a time, is it practical to close its suction motor operatd valve after the pump trip due to low liquid level?
Also, the pump has a temperature transmitter on its suction piping that is acting as a permessive that will prevent the pump starting when the reading is below certain temperature value. The line is heat traced. I have the following question regarding such interlock: if the tracing malfanctioned and the temperature dropped below that certain value, what will bring the fluid in the piping to elevated temperature and resume the pumping? can the tracing do that once it is rectified?

Yes...
There should be an temperature alarm low to announce the operator about the heat tracing system malfunction...
