Dear all

Any experience Professional/research can give me a ball figure - what is the "realistic" overall heat transfer coefficient for palm oil (product side) and tube side hot - steam? I'm scratch my head look anywhere but couldn't find it.

I do not have anu basic to estimate, currently i'm using crude oil properties - thermal cond, viscosity and Cp value and used Kern Method to estimate the HTC.

Anyone can share here? For instant, i just used steam - lube oil : UTC - 225W/m2.K (not agitated tank) and 555 W/m.K (Agitated).

i believed India/Indonesia/European country already carry out some literature on this.

Thanks

Dear all

Sorry for late reply due to busy with tender exercises. Ok.. I just got the Overall HTC form cheresources, it rough estimate for agitated storage tank, not insulated - the value is about 600 W/m2.k for steam (tube side) and palm oil (tank side).

Used Q=U.A.Tlm where Tlm is log mean temp, Q = M.Cp.(T2-T1) to calculate your total heat transfer surface

You can used pipe rack, spiral..etc heat exchanger. I strongly recomended helix fined type becoz good heat transfer effect. (Visit Armstrong website or type google)

Regards
