Hello,

I am trying simulate the mixed reactor process (Dry methane reforming + Reverse water gas+ steam reforming) using the PFR model in hysys in order to obtain syngas (H2 & CO) compositions by passing CH4,H2O and CO2 through the mixed reactor. I added 4 heterogeneous catalytic reaction on to the PFR where:

1) Dry reforming of methane: CH4 + CO2 <> 2CO + 2H2
2) Steam reforming of methane: CH4 + H2O <> CO + 3H2
3) Steam reforming of methane : CH4 + 2H2O <> CO2 + 4H2
4) Water gas shift : CO + H2O <> CO2 + H2

I also added the kinetic reaction values for A and Ea for each of the reactions
1) A = 2.91 x 10^-7, Ea= -234,851
2) A = 4.72x10^6, Ea= -232,477
3) A = 1.89x10^3, Ea= -267,760
4) A = 1.06x10^-3, Ea= -71,537

Even added the diameter and length values.
 
Reformer condition:
Feed composition:
CH4: 0.25
H2O: 0.37
CO2: 0.38
 
Temp: 900C and Pressure: 1.2 Mpa
 

But when I run it, the feed entering the PFR reformer just flows out of the reformer without reacting. I have struggling to try to obtain the H2 and CO compositions but no luck.

Have you attached energy stream and specified heat of reaction for the endothermic reactions?

You may also use Aspen Plus instead of HYSYS (if thats an option) to employ an old .dll file from Aspen that has already builtin kinetics of all ammonia plant reactions including reformer.
