sargon,

In general no; you can use a liquid control valve in gas services just when you replace the control valve trim with a new trim which is suitable for gas service through consultation with the relevant vendor.

Dear Sargon,

Following are some additional points to consider:

1) Sometimes the replacement of new trim for same valve body is a costlier option.

2) Also, might be difficulties in predicting the performance characteristics of the control valve with the new replaced trim.

This is the reason, sometimes client prefer to have completely new control Valve.

The best way to tackle this problem is consult the Control Valve Vendors as suggested by Fallah Sir.

Regards,

SPC
