We are operating an 1140 MTPD ammonia and 1800 MTPD Urea plant wherein 100 MTPD surplus ammonia is generated after meeting the requirement of Urea plant. Now we are facing issues related to surplus ammonia due to cost of production being higher than international market.
I need to know-
1. How to utilize surplus ammonia to make other product to increase profitability.
2. Using Hydrogen gas generated equivalent to 100 MTPD ammonia and produce different product.
3. Using synthesis gas equivalent to 100 MTPD ammonia and produce different product.

I shall be ready to answer any queries to solve the problem.

Ammonia can be made into nitric acid and then ammonium nitrate, but usually this requires scale (much more than 100 t/d).

Synthesis gas can be made into just about anything, but the capital to do so may not be viable at small scale.  Simplest first step would be to make methanol.  From there you can make lots of other things.

Thanks for the reply.
What are the viable products which can be manufactured from Methanol.
We have synthesis gas as follws.
Quantity which can be spared: 10000 NM3/hr
Pressure: 25 kg/cm2g
Temperature: 10 - 40 Deg C
N2: 25 % (molar basis)
H2: 72 % (molar basis)
CH4+Ar: balance.

See here:  http://www.essential...s/methanol.html

Starting from syngas you can make methanol, then formaldehyde, or methanal, or acetic acid.  From there you can make many plastics and other fine chemicals.
