Hello everyone! I want to ask you about the optimization of distillation column using ASPEN PLUS. I used the sensitivity analysis and I change the number of stages and I try to see the effect on the reflux ratio, the condenser duty and the reboiler duty. But when I run the simulation, I get warnings that the reflux is not changing and also the condenser and reboiler do not change. Could you please help me?

there are many threads discussing column's optimization,

I prefer a heuristic approach with external minimizers (in my case Prode Properties library for column plus Mathcad or Matlab for optimization) that allows me to maintain a control over the different parameters, I can define bound constraints, debug each different step etc.

I suppose you had a similar problem (i.e. cannot control some part of optimization process) , maybe you can solve some initial steps and then instruct the optimizer about the allowed range of values....
