Hi,
currently I am doing detail engineering of the ammonia production plant,
I need some help regarding is there any special requiremrent for the valves used in the ammonia service.

Yes, and you first need to specify all the operating conditions, including temperature, and moisture content.
This is a "serious" service and should not be entered into blindly.

Dear Yogi,
Ammonia is quite corrosive i guess !. One of the restriction is the high pressure in the system since i know Ammonia is produced at a very high pressure. Most pipelines are made of exotic material (high resistance) like: duplex, hastaloy etc. Likely all the flanges connected to pipelines and valves have high ratings. For that reason i guess all the valves must have the same selection criteria of the processlines and the equipments.
Furthermore basically the process condition (temp., pressure etc.)
This is a nice project you working on , are you using the liquid phase or the compact gas phase . Could you share this project with me please ? I can look for more specific on the requirements (ASME, ASTM etc..)
OK one more question are you working also with ammonia sulphate ?
Cheers

Dear
If you intend to use the valves for Anhydrous ammonia service, the MOC and rating of valves are different from that of other process valves.
Visit the site www.regoproducts.com for furtherv information on valves and other special materials for Ammonia service.

Samir

Samir has given you excellent advise. Anhydrous ammonia has special requirements and there are specialty valves made for ammonia service. Rego is the biggest supplier of those valves that I know of, so that would be a good place to start. Dry ammonia is not particularly corrosive, except to copper-bearing alloys, so the valves, piping, and equipment in ammonia service are often made of carbon steel.
