Energy Saving By Changing Motor Side Pulley Diameter Of Compressor

Compressor capacity: 1680 M3/hr
Motor pulley diameter:300 mm
Motor rpm:1400
Compressor pulley diameter:600 mm
Compressor rpm:700
Loading time: 40 minutes
Unloading time:20 minutes
We want to reduce the unloading time to 10 minutes and loading time to 50 minutes in our compressor.
One of the suggestion was to reduce the pulley diameter motor side.
How can it be done?
Please help.

How is the compressor being controlled currently?

You need to explain what you mean by "loading time" and "unloading time". But if you reduce capacity in inverse proportion to "load time" you won't save any energy. But you will reduce power requirements.

Would a variable speed drive be an easier option?
If the loading and unloading is controlled by pressure, you can use the PID controller in the VFD, to control the pressure to the required setpoint. There will therefore be no more starts and stops due to loading and unloading.
