Hi dear members

I have a ESD valve that is intended for that bypass without parallel ESDV.

this ESDV located at the manifold of unit.

designer profess that the bypass is prepared to fill the unit at startup.

i need a document such a standard or recommended practice to proof that ESDV should not have bypass line without parallel valve or MOV valve before it.

or show that Bypass is not common for ESDV.

can you help me?

Marie,

It's a good engineering practice that for an ESDV considering by pass isn't normally authorized due to safety issue, but for SDV it could be considered...

Marie

As per my understanding and experience. Usually Plant inlet ESV has an equalizing line (not bypass line) to equalize the pressure. This equalizing line line normally has globe valve with ball valve with Lock close condition.

This is the engineering good practice.
