have you seen a back pressure regulator on PD pump discharge? is it generally recommended. I have seen PSV for all pD pumps. Is pressure regulator going to do anything useful? sketch with this post.

Yes i have seen back pressure regulator.
But it was a metering station and pressure at the inlet of discharge vessel has to be controlled as dosing was against varying pressure.
However if you dont have to control pressure at the discharge header it is not required and only PSV is enough.
Moreover if you still want to install both give separate lines for PSV and PCV.
Your pump type is important. Some pumps ha inbuilt PSV. When discharge pressure rises PSV opens to suction side.
SO confirm your process requirement, check pump type , have a word with pump vendor.

With having PRV on the PD pump discharge line appears there is no need having a PCV too. Anyway, you can use a PSV with the set point of the PCV and remove the PCV, otherwise it would be functioned other than we think...

If we have single pump discharging into multiple dosing lines to multiple dosing points…and we want to maintain constant pressure at these dosing points, do we install this backpressure regulator at all dosing lines close to dosing points? In the application you mentioned was the pr. Regulator close to discharge vessel?
You mentioned separate lines for pcv and psv..what is the reason for that?

PRV is installed on discharge line of PD pump due to maintain the pressure in discharge line. In case of flow restrict, this PRV on the returned line will open and flow towards the tank.

so if a backpressure regulator is placed on discharge side...it will always force the pump to maitain a certain pressure irrespective of the pressure at injection point or discharge vessel etc.? is that correct.
the two schemes in attached image...will they function as same ...to maintain pr. on discharge header or will there be some difference?
