Hello everyone!

How we can check the adecuacy of an existing horizontal vessel?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

You have to go through the requirements for the gas/liquid and liquid liquid separation criteria i.e. what is the maximum gas velocity/load factor you should allow in order not to exceed a specific liquid carry over in USG/MMSCF. You should also look into your oil/water separation requirements. Please note in case you have emulsion, such static separation in horizontal vessels will not be able to break such high oil-water tight dispersion and further separation using heating or electrostatic separation is required.

You will need to be more specific in your information and the questions you have. We know nothing of the vessel other than what you have stated, specifically it is horizontal.

As an example you mention nothing of the pressures and vacuums, application, fluids, temperatures, materials and so much more. There is no way to give you a proper answer without a proper question.

Hi ,

Difficult to give you a meaningful answer . Did you check for documents associated with the fabrication of the tank , data sheet , name plate , engineering drawings ,etc ?

What is the purpose of this tank ?

Help us providing more info and we will help you.

Good luck

Breizh

Panagiotis:

I have another question - besides the important points raised by ProinWv and Breizh:  what do you mean by the word "adequacy"?

Do you mean:

  • Does it have sufficient volume for the fluid you want to store in it?
  • Will it withstand the fluid weight load imposed on it?
  • Will it safely withstand the vapor pressure imposed on it?
  • Will it fit in the location you have chosen?

Please be specific.
