Dear All,

I hope you are doing good. I have been searching in the API for True Vapor Pressure (TVP) threshold value to determine whether to store the chemicals in fixed or floating roof, but with no luck. Can anyone guide me or provide me with accepted reference (ex: API, NFPA, ...etc.) that specify certain values to use whether floating or fixed roof based on TVP values?

Thanks all in advance.

Hi,

As a general rule, fixed roof is to be applied for max vapor pressure up to around 1 psia and floating roof for max vapor pressure around 11 psia.

Thank you fallah for your response. I just want to know if this is a common practice or there is an accredited reference like the API recommend these values.

In some references such as the book titled "Petroleum Refinery Engineering" by: Nelson; you can find the criteria for storage tank selection based on liquid vapor pressure...
