Dear all,
We want to check a vacuum breaker capacity for column operating at -5 KPaG.
Our System is, vapor feed goes to column --- overhead of column is connected to blower and operating pressure of column is -5 KPaG.
As per API 521, 5th edition, section 4.6, It states that vacuum relief is required for
"Removal of vapor from a vessel by attachment to pumps/compressors, or by attachment to equipment
capable of pulling a vacuum (whether by design, such as vacuum pumps and ejectors, or inadvertently
such as vent-collection systems where the flow of material along a header can induce a vacuum in other
equipment);"
Now, our system is similar to this, and we want to check adequacy of the existing installed vacuum breaker on the feed line.
But, we are not able to find any co-relation or equation in regards to calculation of the air-flow required.
Any guidelines in this regards will be helpful.
Thanks in advance,
