Hello.
I am a process engineer and required to study drain time of water fully filled in a header.
A B
__/°°°°°°°°
The water filled in B will push water in A and finally pipe A and B will be drained. Then I need to calculate how long it will take to fully drain water in the pipe.
It is expected that water in B will be fully drained, pipe A will have some water remained.
It seems very simple, however I forgot the basic rules I learned before.
I believe I need a simple physics formula but I could not find any that would resolve this issue.
CAN anybody help.

Hi,
You may find pointers in the link attached (Bernoulli theorem and continuity ) :
https://teslaandi.fi...-derivation.pdf
most probably pocket of water will remain in the header !
I doubt that operation guys will operate the way you suggest , most probably if the pipes are resistant enough they will pressurize the header with air or Nitrogen to empty both the header and the pipe .
My 2 cents
