I have an estimated leakage of 7 MMSCFD through a HIPPS valve. I'd like to know how to calculate the length of time it would take to pressurise the downstream system to 140 barg, (a pipeline with 1000 m3 volume)
Attached is a sketch.
The HIPPS will close at 138 barg. The downstream design pressure is 140 barg, in a 900 lb system. The system upstream of the HIPPS is a 2500 lb system, designed for 385 barg.
Downstream of the HIPPS is a 4km long pipeline (24 inch) with a volume of 1000 m3..
So in summary, pressurisation of a 4km long pipeline, starting from a pressure of 138 barg, ending at 140 barg , with upstream pressure of 385 barg to use as pressurization source.
I thought it would be easy, but now i'm just confused, so any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
