What are some of the best books that are used for the mechanical design of a distillation column particularly a trayed column?

Take a look at GPSA (Gas processors suppliers association) .

Another resource  is attached (note) together with an extract  from GPSA

For mechanical design down load the Koch-Glitsch program K-G Tower.  There well be a short steep learning curve.  But it seems to give good answers.
