Hello there,

I need to design a restriction orifice on a manual vent to atmosphere -

Vent Line Size DN50

Main Line Size DN300

Fluid - Natural Gas - dehydrated

P - Inlet = 15000 KPag

Temperature = 24 DegC

I have calculated the orifice diameter for critical flow condition, it came out to be a 7 mm hole. however, I don't know how to select the rest of the sizing. For example the material of orifice or is there any standard size which i can select and order??

thanks and regards,

Hi ,

What about the flowrate and gas composition and /or other fluid properties ?

Regarding material let you try your favorite search engine , it could be bronze , SS 316 ,SS 304 .

note : You have a look to GPSA for additional information

Good luck

Breizh

Hi,

You have set having the required venting flow rate as critical flow for a delta P equal to 15000 KPag around the Restriction Orifice and then obtained the required hole diameter in the orifice plate; right?

For material and standard size also confirming the calculation you have performed; it's better leaving them to a reputable vendor by providing all data in a data sheet...

You also need noise suppression. So, do as Fallah suggests.
